The survey was conducted by principal investigator, Hiroko N. Wennevold for the British Columbia Post-Secondary Education Enrolment Forecasting Committe. The data was collected through self-administered questionnaires from a stratified cluster sample of grade 12 students in British Columbia. The dataset includes a codebook and two versions of the data, one clean and one not, all encoded in ASCII.
This is the second year survey to analyze post-secondary educational plans, educational and occupational aspirations, and profile characteristics of British Columbia's 1976 Grade 12 students.
Topics of interest include: grade 12 students' plans for summer and fall, 1976; reasons for not continuing education, impact of possible future events on students' plans, and future plans to enroll in post-secondary institutions for those who indicated they do not plan to attend a post-secondary institution in fall, 1976; students' first and second choices for institution and program; financial situations, expected sources of financing a post-secondary education, and knowledge about the B.C. government's Student Assistance Program; impact of possible future events on students' plans for continuing this fall; the degree of influence of persons and of circumstances on students' fall plans.
Demographic data include: students high school program, academic standing and possibility of graduation from high school in June 1976; students' choice of occupation and their parents' occupations; the highest level of education that students expect to complete in their lifetime, and the highest level of education completed by their parents; the primary language spoken at home.
