They survey was conducted by Claus Iversen, John Raser, David J. Finlay and Anders Boserup.
A total of 52 samples, of 50 to 200 respondents each, of male respondents in the final phase of university study, approximately 22-24 years of age, were interviewed in 17 nations. Some samples were drawn randomly among the total population of a university, some among students with a specific area of study, and some consisted of students present at certain lectures. Questionnaires were variously administered by interview, self-administered, or mailed out. Data collection occurred from March 1968 to July 1969.
The questionnaire covered respondents' interest in and knowledge of national and international politics, political activity, participation in military service. Scores on Gordon's scales of interpersonal values (independence, support, benevolence, conformity, leadership, recognition scales). Index of knowledge on internation affairs. Respondents' opinions of major external issues, internal issues, world issues, and preferred political party.
