Description	The principal investigator was David J. Elkins from UBC's Department of Political Science. This data file consists of merged data from the 1968 Canadian national election study, the 1968 Canadian national election study, and the 1974 Canadian national election study. Variables include: strength of provincial governments versus federal government; federal election vote recall, second choice party, last choice party; past federal election vote recall; party R always votes for; factors affecting vote decision; provincial election vote recall; why provincial vote changed; federal political party identification, current and previous, strength; provincial political party identification, current and previous, strength; parents' party identification, political interest; importance of party in power; thermometer ratings of federal parties, of USA; separation of Quebec; contacted by parties during election campaign; life satisfaction; anomie, vote efficacy; influence of intellectuals; political efficacy scale; political trust items and scale; interest in politics; political activity; vote frequency in federal, provincial elections; remember name of winning candidate; political involvement scale; year of election study; 1974 national sample weight. Demographic variables include: province; community size; where R was raised; age; sex; marital status; occupation; income; education; perceived social class; religion; church attendance; language spoken at home; country of birth; year of immigration; origin of ancestors; union membership; residence in other provinces.
