Description	ESRI Data & Maps 9.3, 2008. StreetMap North America ESRI Data & Maps 9.3 is a 5 DVD set containing basemap and thematic data, Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) imagery, US Census geography and the Tele Atlas 2003-based StreetMap North America. Contents: This subset of ESRI Data & Maps 9.3 includes data files for StreetMap North America. Data files include: Data (USA/Canada): airports, cities (with population), major cities, city limits, counties (USA only) (lines and polygons), institutions (schools, cemeteries, churches, government buildings) (points), landmarks (military facilities, hospitals, prisons, industrial parks, amusement parks, government property, recreational areas, golf courses, cemeteries) (polygons), parks, railroads, recreation areas, retail centres, roads [freeway exits (points), highways, interstates & Trans Canada Highway, major roads, maneuvers (intersections) (points), streets - detail, streets - cartographic, states and provinces (lines and polygons), tranportation stations/terminals], water [lakes and rivers (polygons), major lakes, rivers (USA only)], zip codes and forward sortation areas (points and polygons). Background (covering the world): administrative boundaries (lines and polygons), nations, and 30-degree grid covering the world. Formats: The basemap data files are in ESRI’s Smart Data Compression (SDC) format. This format can be read directly in ArcGIS software. Layer files (.lyr), which provide pre-selected graphics for display in ArcGIS software, are included with the data. Individual ZIP files contain data files in SDC format, associated layer files, and metadata. Users who wish to acquire the entire dataset should contact the UBC Library GIS Librarian. The Data Distribution Application (DDA) can be used to convert data from SDC format into shapefiles without using ArcGIS. This can be found by searching ABACUS for ESRI Data and Maps 9.3, 2008 - DDA Tool.
