The survey was conducted by principal investigator, Hiroko N. Wennevold for the British Columbia Post-Secondary Education Enrolment Forecasting Committee. The data was collected through self-administered questionnaires from a stratified cluster sample of grade 12 students in British Columbia. The dataset includes a codebook and two versions of the data, one clean and one not, all encoded in ASCII.
The purpose of this survey was to analyze the characteristics of students graduating from grade 12 in June 1975, and to develop a system of forecasting enrolment demands for British Columbia post-secondary institutions.
Variables include: plans for the summer: temporary or permanent job, courses at post-secondary institution, travel; plans for Sept. 1975: part- or full time job, apprenticeship, travel, part- or full time enrolment in post-secondary institution; reasons for not continuing education; B.C. government Student Assistance Programme; events to make R. reconsider continuing education; possibility of R. continuing education at future date; school and programme chosen for further education; factors influencing selection; influence of people and circumstances on plans for Sept. 1975.
Demographic data include: date of birth; sex; main high school program; marks in grade 11; preferred occupation; father's occupation; mother's occupation; projected level of education; father's education; mother's education.
