The study was conducted by Daniel J. Koenig, from the Department of Sociology at the University of Victoria. The data was collected through mail questionnaires using a random sample of the electorate.
This was part of a continuing series of surveys which are intended to evaluate satisfactions and dissatisfactions of British Columbia voters. This survey is concerned primarily with British Columbians' views about public policy.
Variables include: separatism versus Confederation vis-a-vis British Columbia and Quebec; property rights within marriage; 4 pt. scale of agreement with various forms of punishment, government operate auto insurance (ICBC), and BC Ferries, federal and provincial election vote recall and vote intention, provincial election vote prediction; 4 pt. scale of agreement on aspects of influence of personal wealth on political processes and decisions, and on politicians and political processes in general; policies of political parties toward various segments of the public; perceived social class; political knowledge; registered municipal voter; municipal political awareness; evaluation of performance of former NDP and present Social Credit governments.
Demographic variables include: sex, age, marital status, no. in household, relationship to head of household, no. children living at home, education, occupation, gross family income, organizational membership, place of residence.
