ESRI Data & Maps 9.3, 2008. Mexico ESRI Data & Maps 9.3 is a 5 DVD set containing basemap and thematic data, Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) imagery, US Census geography and the Tele Atlas 2003-based StreetMap North America. Contents: This subset of ESRI Data & Maps 9.3 includes basemap files for Mexico. Data files include: Basemap (covering Mexico): administrative areas (Municipios), cities, contour lines (1,000 meter intervals), railroads, rivers, roads, state boundaries, urban areas, and water bodies. Background (covering the world): administrative boundaries, and 30-degree grid. Mexico Base Map (.axl, .lyr, .mxd, .pmd) (available in mexico.zip only) Formats: The basemap data files are in ESRI’s Smart Data Compression (SDC) format. This format can be read directly in ArcGIS software. Layer files (.lyr), which provide pre-selected graphics for display in ArcGIS software, are included with the data. Individual ZIP files contain data files in SDC format, associated layer files, and metadata. The mexico.zip file contains the entire data set for Mexico; users who wish to download the entire dataset should download this ZIP file rather than individual files. The Mexico Base Map files can be found in the mexico.zip file. These files link to various SDC files throughout the dataset, and so are only useful when accompanied by the entire dataset. The Data Distribution Application (DDA) can be used to convert data from SDC format into shapefiles without using ArcGIS. This can be found by searching ABACUS for ESRI Data and Maps 9.3, 2008 - DDA Tool. The tool should be used in conjunction with the data contained in the mexico.zip file.
